SUMMARY

The 49ers need a new stadium in the next few years (let's say 5 years).  Back in 2007, there was a proposal made to revitalize Hunter's Point and Bayview around a new Stadium for the 49ers.  But the 49ers have been trying to garner support for a revamped stadium years before.  In 1997, a plan was developed to build a new stadium-mall complex at Candlestick which received voter approval.  That plan fizzled out,  much like the Hunter's Point plan from 2007 seems to be doing.  Recently, 49ers turned their attention to the city of Santa Clara who voted to move forward with a new state of the art stadium for the San Francisco 49ers.  The Santa Clara City Council has approved a financing plan for a new $937 million stadium.  The City of San Francisco appears to be losing what was once the greatest franchise in professional football to a location 43 miles away from its last Super Bowl victory parade.
